ABOUT

Hayley Labrum Morrison (she/her) is an interdisciplinary artist born in Salt Lake City, UT (1986). Morrison’s work blends elements of painting and sculpture to explore the impact of American Frontierism on the land and culture of the Mountain West. Her recent solo exhibitions include “Of(f) the Body” at Dougherty Arts Center (Austin, TX, 2022) and “Tinkling Ornaments” at Martha’s (Austin, TX, 2022). Recent group exhibitions include “Fruit Salad” at NYC Crit Club (Chelsea, NY, 2025), “Marking Place” at Eastern Michigan University (Ypsilanti, MI), and “Anthropos” at Chilli Art Projects (London, UK, 2024).

Morrison co-founded concept animals—a femme artist-run publication—in 2020. She has written, edited, and curated dozens of artist interviews, exhibition reviews, and online exhibitions with concept animals and co-produced Video Picnic (Martha’s, 2020-2021), Crit Nites (ICOSA Collective, 2021), “Secondary” at Bolm Arts Gallery (Austin, TX, 2022), and “Howdy, Stranger” at FOUNDRY (Austin, TX, 2021). She also created Austin’s go-to weekly art event digest, ATX ART FOR YOU (Instagram, 2022).

Morrison earned a BFA from Brigham Young University (Provo, UT, 2008), was in Rose Nestler’s NYC Crit Club 2024 Canopy Program, a 2023 resident at Vermont Studio Center, and is currently pursuing a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from Cranbrook Academy of Art (Bloomfield Hills, MI, 2026). She has been featured in Southwest Contemporary, The Exponent II, and Tchotchke Gallery’s 35mm Visual Diary.
